ABOUT ME

Gómez Cambronero

BIO

Born in Madrid, Spain, in 1976 and residing in Daimiel, Ciudad Real, in the heart of La Mancha, the land of Don Quixote, Juan Francisco Gómez-Cambronero is a civil engineer with an unwavering passion for painting since he was old enough to hold a brush. The family environment and the surroundings in which he grew up imbued his painting with unique nuances that make his work unmistakable.

Today, he is emerging as a painter with significant international projection and a distinctive style. His paintings are full of personality, dynamism, and emotion, with the ability to move and captivate the viewer. Aware that artistic evolution comes from constant learning, he has trained with some of the best painters on the national and international scene, perfecting his technique in oil, acrylic, and charcoal.

Meticulous with spaces, accentuating perspectives, creating movement, flooding his work with light and shadows, and above all, virtuous in the use of color, Gómez-Cambronero embodies the principles of contemporary realism. However, he does not hesitate to blend this style with an unrestrained and fervent figurative expressionism, driven by his marked artistic personality. There is no challenge he does not consider. In fact, he doesn’t wait for challenges; he seeks them out. From natural landscapes to urban scenes, from the human figure to minimalist compositions, his themes are as broad as his desire to explore and enjoy painting without being confined to clichés.

His talent goes hand in hand with perseverance and hard work, guided by a rebellious and creative personality that activates and harmonizes both hemispheres of his brain. The result is a body of work with great visual impact and dynamism. Gómez-Cambronero stands out as one of the most active emerging Spanish painters abroad, already amassing numerous national and international awards, and having participated in many significant solo exhibitions, such as the one held in 2023 at the European Parliament in Brussels, as well as sharing the stage with other national and international artists in collective exhibitions around the world.

In addition to his paintings, he has illustrated books and beautified urban spaces with his sculptures, demonstrating his versatility and inexhaustible creativity.

My Artistic Approach

I am fascinated by the power of art and how painting can radically change the way we see our surroundings. How everyday things can acquire immense beauty after passing through my creative filter, or how an idea expressed on canvas can be so overwhelming that it evokes emotions in the viewer.

I like to store in my mind images and reflections that make me feel, one after another, until I have the need to unload everything onto a canvas.

I don’t paint just for the sake of painting, but to paint for the sake of feeling. I like to savor and live each piece, and this makes my production very limited (between 15 and 20 works a year) because I need to find the right moment within myself. My painting always hides an idea. I am interested in simplicity and subtlety. Sometimes, something obvious transforms into mystery and infuses the work with narrative.

I define my style as contemporary figurative narrative. I often break, fracture, or blur straight lines and contours to free my painting from constraints and convey rhythm, enhancing the plasticity of the work. I use color to saturate spaces and create expressive environments and atmospheres. My rebellious and creative nature clashes with my more rational side, fueled by my training as a civil engineer, creating an internal struggle within me that results in works with a powerful visual impact and dynamism.

In recent years, I have focused on showcasing my creations outside of Spain. I have exhibited in the United States, Sweden, Italy, Germany, Monaco, Hungary, Morocco, and the United Arab Emirates.

These experiences have made me grow as a painter and develop a set of enriching relationships with gallery owners, collectors, and art critics.

In parallel, I have achieved numerous national and international recognitions and awards, and have introduced some of my works into significant international art collections (Taiwan, South Korea, New York, Austria, Switzerland, Germany, etc.).
