Juan Francisco Gómez-Cambronero received the ‘Daimieleño of the Year 2021’ award on Saturday morning at Espacio Fisac. This annual recognition is organized by the local newspaper Las Tablas de Daimiel.
Gómez-Cambronero, a civil engineer by profession, has been an artist since he was old enough to hold a paintbrush. His family environment and the place where he grew up have infused all the nuances that shaped him into who he is today: a painter with great potential and a distinctive style, who has already received numerous national and international awards. In recent years, he has participated in numerous group and solo exhibitions, illustrated books, and even enriched urban spaces, as highlighted in the November issue of the magazine directed by Miguel Ángel Fanega.
The director praised the painter’s unique qualities, emphasizing “his career as a painter” and his “remarkable growth,” which he described during the event as “tremendous.” These are some of the attributes that earned the local artist the award. Fanega also noted that “he knows how to place his works in the right places.”
Juan Francisco Gómez-Cambronero shared that painting has become “a part of me” over the past five years. The artist from Daimiel, who expressed his gratitude for the award, spoke to the attendees about how he has fully dedicated himself to painting over the last half-decade and the joy it brings him. “I started befriending it, inviting it in, and interacting with it more. We began to reconnect and rebuild our relationship because it’s something you can lose touch with. We’ve formed a very strong bond, and I’ve realized how much it gives me as a person and the wonderful moments it allows me to experience,” he stated.
Mayor Leopoldo Sierra praised Gómez-Cambronero’s work, highlighting his “sensitivity, integrity, and respect” when undertaking a project on the easel.
