The Nativity Scene Association of Ciudad Real has appointed painter Juan Francisco Gómez Cambronero as the creator of the official poster for the upcoming Christmas Gala, an event scheduled for Saturday, November 29th, at the iconic Teatro Quijano.
The artist, born in Madrid and based in Daimiel, will be responsible for giving image and emotion to one of the most significant festive gatherings in the city’s Christmas calendar. The Nativity Scene organized annually by the Association attracts over 100,000 visitors.
During the presentation ceremony, held in the City Hall’s plenary chamber, Mayor Francisco Cañizares praised the Association’s choice to feature “local talent,” emphasizing that the gala “has already become a citywide event,” and that with artists like Gómez Cambronero, “Christmas will once again shine brightly in Ciudad Real.”
Meanwhile, the Association’s president, Antonio Vich, highlighted the artistic value and international career of Gómez Cambronero, whose work, he noted, “possesses unique nuances that make it unmistakable and deeply emotional.”
The event will also feature journalist José Miguel Beldad, who will deliver the traditional Christmas proclamation, and renowned flamenco singer and guitarist Ricardo Fernández del Moral, who will provide the musical performance. According to the organizers, this combination will give the gala a distinctly Manchegan character.
Following his appointment, Juan Francisco Gómez Cambronero expressed both gratitude and commitment to the project:
“This commission moves me deeply. The painting I have already begun will speak of the unifying power of Christmas and Christianity, of the essential role of children, and of the values we need most today: family, hope, and unity. In these turbulent times, Christmas reminds us to pause, to look at the world with a more human and global vision, and to remember what truly matters.”
The artist, whose career includes numerous exhibitions and awards in different countries, embraces this new challenge with the excitement of contributing, through art, to the tradition and heartfelt spirit of Christmas in his homeland.
The 2025 Christmas Gala thus emerges as a must-attend event where art, words, and music will come together to officially inaugurate the holiday season in Ciudad Real.
