Juan Francisco Gómez-Cambronero Wins the 3rd National Painting Award of the Civil Engineering Foundation with His Work “Connected Geometry”

The artist and engineer from Daimiel, Juan Francisco Gómez-Cambronero Alonso, has been awarded First Prize in the 3rd National Painting Competition of the Civil Engineering Foundation for his work “Connected Geometry”, a piece that merges art and technique in a visual language filled with balance, emotion, and structure.

The Civil Engineering Foundation has announced the results of its 3rd National Painting Award, which this year recognized Juan Francisco Gómez-Cambronero Alonso, a member of the Castilla-La Mancha branch of the College of Civil Engineering Technicians (CITOP), as the winner of the First Prize with his piece “Connected Geometry”.

The competition, which closed submissions on December 31, 2024, sought original, hand-made works in any pictorial discipline that reflected the artistic vision of civil engineering professionals and the beauty hidden within large infrastructures.

The jury—composed of representatives from the Foundation, CITOP, and the sponsoring company EXTRACO—highlighted in the winning piece “its plastic strength, formal balance, and the ability to fuse technical thought with artistic sensitivity.”

“Connected Geometry” is a composition in which two essential infrastructures— a highway and a bridge— intertwine, becoming a visual metaphor for the dialogue between reason and emotion, between the world of the engineer and that of the artist.

In the words of Gómez-Cambronero himself, this award holds deep personal meaning:

“I am very moved by this recognition, as it represents the union of my two passions: art and engineering. Connected Geometry was born from that constant dialogue between my creative mind and my technical vision. Lines, shapes, and perspective build inner bridges that connect my reason and my emotion.”
The artist from Daimiel, with an extensive international career and numerous exhibitions and awards, has found in this piece a meeting point between his two callings. His painting, characterized by light, structure, and visual harmony, transcends the technical realm to become an aesthetic reflection on human connection and inner balance.

The 3rd Painting Award of the Civil Engineering Foundation, sponsored by EXTRACO, included three cash prizes. In this edition, the second prize went to Ángel Luis Corbera Caballero for “Dolmen de Axeitos”, and the third to Raúl Llarena Abascal for “La presa”.

With this recognition, Juan Francisco Gómez-Cambronero strengthens his position as a creator capable of building bridges between disciplines, offering a unique perspective where art and engineering do not oppose each other but rather complement and enrich one another.
